Welcome to Guide Dogs Victoria

We’re so glad you’re here!

Maybe we’re helping you learn to do things by yourself at home or school, or you’re having mobility training, or joining a camp. Whatever the reason, our job is to help you reach your goals, feel safe, and know that your voice is heard.

If you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, we recognise you as the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, work, and play. We welcome kids from all cultures and try our best to be respectful. Sometimes we may need your help to get it right, and that’s okay!

What does it mean to feel safe?

Feeling safe can mean lots of different things.

Here are some important things to remember:

  • It’s okay to ask questions if you don’t understand something

  • It’s okay to say “no” if something doesn’t feel right

  • You can talk to safe people when you’re worried or need help

  • You can take a break whenever you need one

Sometimes things can feel confusing, and that’s okay. You can ask questions as many times as you need, and it’s always okay to say “no” if something makes you feel unsure.

We’re here to help

If something happens that makes you feel unsafe or worried, we are here to help. Tell a grown-up right away. Every grown-up here is here to listen and look after you.

We want you to feel safe and happy.

If something doesn’t feel right, or if someone makes you feel uncomfortable, tell us.

If you’re worried about a friend, you can tell us too.
